Sri Lankan Cinnamon, also known as Ceylon cinnamon, is the only true cinnamon. The Ceylon cinnamon tree, called “true cinnamon tree”, is a small evergreen tree belonging to the family Lauraceae, native to Sri Lanka. Among other species, its inner bark is used to make cinnamon. Our Sri Lankan Ground Canela Cinnamon has the truest of cinnamon flavors, grown to be warm, spicy and sweet.
Unlike Vietnamese cinnamon which has a more pungent flavor, or Korintje cinnamon which is slightly sweeter, Sri Lankan cinnamon has a smooth, and aromatic flavor with undertones of sweetness, citrus, and butter. Sri Lankan Cinnamon is a perfect all-purpose cinnamon for using in curries and stews, dusting over oatmeal, spooning into your best barbeque sauce recipe, or mixing into any baking recipe.
