Chakalaka is a South African vegetable relish, usually spicy, that is traditionally served with bread, pap, samp, stews, or curries.
Ingredients
- 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 Medium Red Onion Diced
- 2 Cloves Garlic Minced
- 1 14 oz Can Diced Tomatoes
- 1 14 oz Can Baked Beans
- 1 Red Bell Pepper Sliced
- 1 Green Bell Pepper Sliced
- 4 Carrots Coarsely Grated
- 2 tbsp Nomad Chakalaka Spice Blend
- Grilled Meat and white rice to serve
Instructions
- Add oil to a large fry pan over medium heat.
- Add Onions and garlic. Sweat until translucent.
- Add carrots and stir fry for 1 minute. Add sliced peppers and stir.
- Add tomatoes and Chakalaka Spice, blend and cook about 10 minutes over medium heat.
- Add beans and cook another 5 minutes. Salt & pepper to taste.
- Serve with rice and grilled meat.
